Do you work with, or supervise staff who work with individuals who want to make changes in their lives? Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a conversation style that supports change in a manner congruent with a person’s own values and concerns using collaborative, goal-orientated methods of communication. This introduction covers the spirit, core skills and processes of MI, as well as the most current research of use and effective practice. This course is appropriate for individuals who have had prior MI training and have not used it in their role, or would like exposure to updates in the field. Participants from a wide array of helping roles such as education, dental care, addictions, healthcare, social services and counseling are welcome to attend. Provider approved for seven hours by the California Board of Nursing, which may reciprocate for other professional CEUs. This course is approved for seven hours by the Oregon Health Authority to provide Continuing Education Units to all traditional health workers (Community Health Workers, Personal Health Navigators, Doulas, Peer Support Specialists, and Peer Wellness Specialists).
