More About Me

About Me

I went through my TNT in Quebec with Bill, Terri and David Rosengren.

Going through that training changed my professional and personal life.

I am currently teaching as a Visiting Professor in the Psychology Department at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.  They have good mojo there.  My  contract ends with them May 2013 so I am beginning to start the job search again.

I have had a consulting business, Clinical Training Institute for 12 years.  I provide MI training, MITI coding, MITI coding training, coaching/feedback and any other MI related work.

My clinical specialties are substance misuse, harm reduction, couple and family therapy, mood disorders, trauma, EMDR and Ericksonian hypnotherapy.I do not have a clinical practice now yet will begin seeing  clients again in the fall of 2013.

I am 57 years young, divorced, 2 adult sons and I like having a good bellylaugh.

Trainer Statement

I provide MI training, MITI coding, MITI coding training, coaching/feedback and have taught MI in the undergraduate and graduate levels.

I have been coding consultant with MI research projects at NYU, SUNY, UNM, University of Bedfordshire, University of Kentucky Louisville, and Northwestern University.

I am currently Visiting Professor of Psychology at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.  I have taught full time in higher education for the past 14 years.

My clinical background spans 31 years, and I have specialities in substance misuse, harm reducation, smoking cessation, couple/family therapy, adult and adolescent therapy, mood disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder,  Dialectical Behavior Therapy, EMDR, hypnotherapy and I work with adults and adolescents.

I offer online trainings in Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced MI as well as online courses on MITI coding.

I was trained as a MINT member in 2000 in Quebec with Bill Miller, Terri Moyers and David Rosengren.  My relationships with these folks and all the other cool MINT members have allowed me to travel to Europe, Canada and Africa as a result of my work with them.

My training style is informal and I like to have fun while working.  I use a great deal of experiential skill building in my training as you cannot learn MI without doing it.  I also provide many tools to assist trainees in continuing to become the best MI practitioners they can  be.
