About Me

Mary McGinty holds a Masters degree in Community Counseling, specializing in clinical psychology, from Eastern University, St. Davids, PA. Her more than 15 years of progressive and diversified experience encompasses a variety of human service settings and roles, resulting in a widely diversified background and internalized “Can – Do” attitude. Her post graduate experiences consisted of working with both children (7-17) and adults (18+) in community mental health settings, with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders. After several years of providing direct care services, she began supervising staff and overseeing of practices and programs. In 1999, Ms. McGinty was introduced to MI, becoming a member of MINT in 2011. She is currently working with a Federal Grant program, through the Children’s Bureau, designed to demonstrate the high degree of effectiveness of Motivational Interviewing for more comprehensively assessing families entering child welfare systems. Ms. McGinty has accrued over 3,000 hours of experience training and coaching social workers in their use and application of Motivational Interviewing. She is an “in-demand” presenter, providing highly dynamic and interactive workshops on Motivational Interviewing.
