I regularly conducts trainings at local and national conferences for professionals in the fields of mental health, higher education, and community corrections.  I have conducted MI trainings to professionals/ students in the fields of - student affairs, law enforcement, probation/ parole, addiction treatment, mental health and personal training.  I've co-authored several professional publications on the topics of motivational interviewing, the psychology of men and developing community partnerships to address family violence.  I've been happily married for 16 years and and have a spirited pre-schooler who keeps me busy and on my toes!  I enjoy hiking the local mountains and local beaches of Southern California making pottery, and as a former college athlete, engaging in a variety of sports.

Trainer Statement

Like good therapy, I believe that good training starts with understanding the needs of the client. I consider it an honor to be asked to provide training for other professionals, therefore I take a great of deal of time developing training opportunities that meet the needs of my audience.  The first step in having me conduct a training is an in-depth discussion of your needs and the outcomes you would like to have participants achieve.  From there we would work together to develop a plan you and I think would best benefit you and/or your program.  I believe training should be fun, interactive, challenging and inspirational.  I want participants to leave my training time yearning to learn more!  I've provided MI training in 1/2 day, day long and multi-day formats to participants of all levels.
