Promoting Responsivity in Community Corrections: A Motivational Interviewing Training Curriculum


Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based practice (EBP) that aligns with the Risk-Needs-Responsivity model of offender treatment. Specific responsivity targeting motivation aims to improve engagement in the corrections process and reduce recidivism. Developed by Jenny Hettema, Ph.D., and Denise Hall, MS, LPC, this training curriculum includes 24 interactive, skill building models; comprehensive facilitator guide; powerpoint presentation with over two hours of video demonstrating key techniques; participant workbooks; sample forms, guidelines for administration, and implementation protocols.
